Rashi Bijlani, the Director and course designer for Asha Hai, has a Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy from University of London which is registered with the ADMP-UK and is also a Clinical Psychologist. Her novel and unique vision of the society enables her to view the children with extra needs through a new lens. In keeping with her ideology, she is a consultant Dance Movement Psychotherapist at various centers for children in Delhi.
Her experience as an accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer further confirms her confidence that dance and movement enhance the smooth interaction of the mind and body.She has recently started her unique forum to bring together various professionals of the Creative Arts field, called the Centre for Dance Movement Psychotherapy (CDMP). Her therapies are not just limited to children but also to adolescents and adults with mental health issues and addiction.In her quest to diversify her work, Rashi is also conducting parenting and childcare workshops for parents.
Rashi has taken the initiative to promote and familiarize people with Dance Movement Psychotherapy as well. She has conducted various workshops in schools and colleges of New Delhi with an aim to make people aware of the usefulness and importance of dance in a therapeutic setting.
Shruti has completed her B.A (Hons.) in English Literature from DU. She has been associated with Asha Hai- Unit of Crayons Educational Society and majorly caters to the administrative side of Asha Hai wherein she mainly coordinates the sessions and therapies of the children and over all supervises the functioning of the center.
She is a special educator for older children with LD and behavioral issues. Her main focus is to help children realize their potential, build up the confidence level and bring them at a stage where they have a positive attitude and outlook towards the studies. She also aims to spread awareness about Asha Hai project for which she individually visits pediatricians, neurologists and psychiatrists and briefs them about Asha Hai.
Sophia Ali has completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Amity University. She is a visiting Psychologist at our tie-up school – Shri Ram Early Years where she assists in understanding the behavioral as well as socio-emotional needs and issues of the children. She is a keen dancer and holds a certification in creative movement therapy as Movement Facilitator from Creative Movement Therapy Association of India (CMTAI).
She is a quick learner and dons various hats at the Asha Hai setup. She caters to the specific needs of the children and helps in dealing with the behavioural issues, learning disabilities, socio- emotional needs as well as manage admin work. She also does psychometric assessments as per the client needs.
As a passionate dancer, she is currently training with and assisting our Dance Movement Psychotherapist Rashi Bijlani. She believes that dance and movement are the hidden language of the soul and if we can try to understand that then major issues can be resolved.
